Сейчас LMMS поддерживает наложение LADSPA-эффектов на отдельные инструменты, а также практически полностью реализована поддержка VST(i) плагинов. В будущем планируется создание шин эффектов для обработки нескольких музыкальных инструментов одним набором эффектов.
LMMS совместима с SoundFont2, GUS Patches. Поддерживается также импорт файлов MIDI и FLP (Fruityloops Project).
Программа портированна с Linux,так что интерфейс много-языковый,в том числе русский.
